With existential awareness comes anxiety and grief. So why not just ignore it?
I am convinced that existential awareness holds the potential to solve many of the problems we all face. It holds the potential to make life better for individuals and for entire communities.
I believe that if existence is given the appropriate attention in communities and we remember who and what we are, the anxiety and the grief will become more manageable as well.
Seriously, what if understanding that you are a finite being actually helps you to find meaning and purpose, live a more fulfilling life, show more compassion and lift up other people around you?
What if communities regard their own culture as one possible framework, one possible point of view and way of life which is to be explored next to other ways? *
What if communities would encourage each individual to search for their own answers to existential questions so everyone can be fully alive as themselves, feel safe and find meaning?
What if in such a world, where we remember who and what we are, people and communities would
> Value life more
> Find more meaning and live more fulfilling lives
> Be kinder
> Experience deeper connections
> Feel less lonely
> Take better care of the planet, of each other and themselves
> Experience less health issues
> Know their own worth as well as the worth of others
> Find ways to be of service and roles to take on
> …
What if? Wouldn’t you want to let it all in?
* In case someone was worried, I am in favour of laws and democracy, just against hate and discrimination and hoping for more humane leaders everywhere.
